How to Look Amazing In Your Wedding Day Photos

Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life, and you want to look your best in all the photos that will be taken. Being photogenic doesn't come naturally to everyone, but there are a few things you can do to make sure you look your best in your wedding photos. Here are some tips to help you be photogenic on your wedding day:

GET PLENTY OF SLEEP & HYDRATE LIKE IT’S YOUR JOB

Lack of sleep or water can make you look tired and dull in photos. Aim to get 100-150 oz of water/ day (more if you’re drinking alcohol) and plenty of rest during the week of your wedding so you look fresh and radiant in your photos. Your skim (and your beauty team) will thank you, too!

HIRE A GREAT PHOTOGRAPHER

A Great Photographer

A skilled photographer whose demeanor brings ease and joy to the day. That’s what I am looking for and it makes all the difference in the photos we receive.

The best photographers know how to capture your best angles and lighting to make you look your best. They also have the right equipment and experience to create beautiful, high-quality images that will last a lifetime. As a wedding photographer - turned planner, I have strong opinions about this. I highly recommend that you find a photographer whose personality jives with yours. Trust your planner to hire the right photographer for you. I always recommend an engagement shoot with your wedding photographer. It’s a great, low key way to get to know them, making you so much more comfortable on your wedding day. Some of my favorite wedding photographers who seem to capture the most authentic and gorgeous photos of couples on their day are Abigail Lewis, Julia Wade, Clark Brewer, Erin Fox, Daniel Kim, and Hannah Forsberg.

HIRE A SKILLED BEAUTY TEAM

Wearing the right makeup can make a big difference in how you look in your wedding photos. Hire a professional makeup artist who can create a look that enhances your natural features and complements your wedding dress and theme. My favorite beauty teams who do this impeccably are Canvas & Coif and Margaret Snider & Co.

PRACTICE

Take some time to practice your poses in front of the mirror before your wedding day. Experiment with different angles and facial expressions to see what looks best on you. This will help you feel more comfortable and confident in front of the camera on your big day. Good posture can make you look taller and slimmer in photos. Stand up straight and pull your shoulders back to create a confident and elegant look in your wedding photos. Additionally, a genuine smile can make all the difference in a photo. Practice smiling naturally and avoid forcing a smile that looks inauthentic.

HAVE FUN

Relax

Don’t overthink it. Have fun, act natural and enjoy the moment.

The most important thing is to have fun and enjoy your wedding day! When you're relaxed and happy, it will show in your photos. Don't worry too much about posing perfectly or looking perfect in every shot. Just be yourself and enjoy the moment. Authenticity wins every time.

Being photogenic on your wedding day requires a combination of preparation, confidence, and a relaxed attitude. By following these tips and working with a professional photographer, you can create beautiful and timeless photos that capture the joy and beauty of your special day.
