Colorful Minimalism Under the Oaks in Sewanee, Tennessee

Noni & John

June 11, 2021

All Saints Chapel & Centennial House

Located in the center of the picturesque mountaintop campus, All Saints’ Chapel is perhaps the best example of the late Gothic Revival architecture in Tennessee. Following a short ceremony, the couple walked through Abo’s Alley, a whimsical walking trail that traverses through the University of the South campus, to meet their 230 guests at their reception at Centennial House. John’s father is a long-standing faculty member and his son’s wedding was Centennial House’s first wedding.

In a town that values tradition, John and Noni wanted something modern that hadn’t been done before. They wanted guests to dine beneath the beautiful oak trees and dance to Asheville-based funk band The Business. The wild, whimsical ikebana florals of pastel and orange were the star of the night with clean, white panama linens and antique glassware.

After dancing nonstop for three straight hours, Noni changed into a floral shorts jumper and vintage shoes for one last dance. The night ended when the new Mr. and Mrs. Fisher rode vintage bicycles down the driveway and back to The Sewanee Inn while guests threw birdseed.
