How to Include Your Dog In Your Wedding Day
46% of all Americans have a dog and it’s become increasingly important to include our furry friends in our every day life. With the increase in flexible work schedules, we’re spending more time with and becoming more attached to our dogs than ever. If you’re marrying close to home or on your own private estate, you can absolutely include your dog. I’m all for very important guests, just be realistic and conscientious of what your pup can be expected to do on your day. Here are my tips —
I highly recommend a very quick pop-in, no matter the dog’s temperament. You might have the most chill dog ever but if she’s never been to a wedding, she is going to be nervous. It’s loud, it’s new, 20 people are trying to pet her. It’s just so outside of a normal day. Keep the visit under an hour, 30 minutes is ideal.
Ask your vet for some calming techniques - or even medicines and treats - but make sure you try them out before the big day, to avoid adverse reactions.
If your dog is walking down the aisle, make sure his handler is very familiar with the dog. You can use a service to transport your dog from the venue and back home - or to the kennel where he’s being boarded.
I hope these tips help keep you and your sweet pup happy! Cheers!
